Multiple careers but no stability

The client came to me seeking help to understand what was stopping her from manifesting her career the way she wanted.

In the past few years, she has changed multiple careers and now, even though she loved what she had chosen to do, she was not able to move forward in it. She was procrastinating and couldn't find enough enthusiasm to take the work forward. As we spoke, the client shared that she had this fear of being seen and that she would be judged by other people.

As we addressed all of this in our work, two important and contradictory things came up -

1 - we found out that the client was holding onto her father's struggles. She realised that she was not letting herself thrive in her career out of a hidden loyalty to her father. Her father had also tried various jobs, but wasn't really successful in his career. 

2 - the client realised and accepted that she rejected her father. She was ashamed of his job and she was afraid to connect with him emotionally.

These two things seem contradictory, but they follow on another. As a child, out of her innocent love for her father, unconsciously she absorbed her fathers struggles.

However, as the rational adult and because of what she learnt from the society, she felt ashamed of her father's work and his behaviour and rejected him. 

So this conflict went on between the inner child and the adult.

Through our work together, she understood that in accepting her father, she can honour him and his struggles. And she can choose to live a different and better life for herself. This helps her in receiving from her father what she needs, and as an adult, she can make better choices for her life.
